Coffee Coffee Coffee

I was asked to create some coffee illustrations for Acquired Taste Magazine. They just wanted simple illustrations of different items one might need to make delicious coffee, along with a book all coffee lovers should own. I fooled around with a few different concepts, including using coffee stains is some parts of the illustrations. Alas, we decided the color versions popped more on screen.

Bread.

In collaboration with Jessica Rogers I created these lovely little bread packages for a make-belief brand "bread" for a school project. I created these little pen and ink drawings to indicate which flavor each bread is. The hand rendered type is inspired by late 60's psychedelic poster designs, following the contour of the illustration.

Chuck Ortiz

The Editor-in-Chief of Acquired Taste Magazine asked me to illustrate a portrait of him to use for social networking. I kept it in muted tones of his favorite color (blue) and beige.

Keeping it real: Italo style

llustration I did for an article on italian cuisine. The title was '5 ways to keep it real: Italo style' so I drew a hand holding out it's five digits while sprinkling some basil on a bowl of delicious pasta. Not particularly thought provoking, but sometimes simple is best? I did two different color variations, but I found the orange hand worked best. omnom.

adventures in silkscreen.

So this was my very first attempt at silkscreen.. I decided to keep it simple, it's only two layers, buut I think it works for this particular image... i hope. These pictures don't really seem to do it justice *sigh*... enjoy!
